Kings Hill climb to third as Macca and Ollie Aston seal a windy 2–1 win over Fleetdown United
Kings Hill 2 v 1 Fleetdown United
Kings Hill moved to 3rd in the table with a narrow victory over bottom of the table Fleetdown United. With the visitors having had a managerial change midweek and in the windy conditions, this match was always going to be more challenging than the league table suggested and so it proved. Fleetdown started strongly with some lively front play and took an early lead through a wind assisted 25 yard effort after quarter of an hour.
However Kings Hill replied 10 minutes later with a Macca header from a great George Sibley cross. Kings Hill could have gone in front when Cameron Croucher went close following another Sibley cross but they went into the break level at 1-1.
The second half saw chances for both sides and Keiron Kennerley saw his effort rattle the opposition cross bar before Kings Hill took the lead midway through the half when Kennerley picked up a pass from Macca to cross for substitute Ollie Aston to apply the finish. Kings Hill could have added more, with Kennerley, Macca, Aston and Nathaniel Waul all going close but could not increase their lead and the game finished with a 2-1 victory and three all important points ahead of Tuesday’s trip to the Gallagher Stadium to play Cuxton.
