Kings Hill FC Celebrates Biggest Ever Summer Tournament

Kings Hill FC enjoyed its biggest ever summer tournament as 91 clubs, 284 teams and around 3,000 players came together at Kings Hill Sports Park for a fantastic weekend of grassroots football.
Across Saturday and Sunday, 806 games were played in what was a huge celebration of the grassroots game, with teams travelling from across Kent and further afield to take part. Every age group had both Trophy and Shield competitions to help maximise the opportunity for teams to compete, progress and enjoy the experience of tournament football.

The standard of football across the weekend was excellent, but just as importantly, the tournament was played in a brilliant spirit. Players, coaches, referees and supporters all helped create a positive atmosphere across the Sports Park, with visiting clubs contributing hugely to what was a great advert for grassroots football.

The hot weather made it a challenging weekend for everyone involved, but players, coaches and families were sensible throughout, with plenty of water, suncream and common sense helping to keep the weekend safe and enjoyable.

A tournament of this size simply does not happen without a huge amount of work behind the scenes. The club would like to say a massive thank you to every volunteer who gave up their time before, during and after the weekend to help with set up, car parking, pitches, registration, results, presentations, refreshments and the countless other jobs that made the event possible.

Special thanks go to the tournament team, whose planning and hard work ensured the weekend ran so smoothly. Particular thanks must go to Lee Reilly, who managed the volunteer workforce across the weekend, and to Helen Marsh, our club secretary, whose work in the build up and across both days helped ensure teams were where they needed to be and that the football side of the tournament ran so well.

The club would also like to thank Lee’s company, Kingsheath Construction, who had a team on site helping with the set up, and Elevate Loft Conversion Specialists, who kindly sponsored the tournament. Their support, along with the efforts of so many club volunteers, made a real difference.

We would also like to thank Kings Hill Town Council and the Sports Park staff for their support throughout the weekend. As the first Kings Hill FC tournament since the Town Council brought the operation of the Sports Park back in house, it was a huge weekend for everyone involved, and their help and support was greatly appreciated. It was also great to see councillors coming down across the weekend to support the event and see first hand the scale of the tournament and the positive impact it has on the local community.

We are also grateful to local residents for their patience and understanding across the weekend, particularly with the additional traffic around the Sports Park. With 91 clubs, 284 teams and around 3,000 players taking part, the site was extremely busy, and the support and understanding from the local community was very much appreciated.

Congratulations to all of the teams who took part, and to all of the Trophy and Shield winners and runners up across the weekend. Most of all, the weekend showed the strength of Kings Hill FC and the community around it. From the players on the pitch to the volunteers behind the scenes, it was an amazing weekend for the club and one we can all be proud of.
