Kings Hill FC 1 v 0 Meridian VP
Another 3 points at home for our Men’s 1st Team as they ran out deserved winners against former SCEFL side Meridian. Watched by another strong crowd on a sunny afternoon at the Sports Park, Kings Hill made several changes to their starting line up to cater for injury, unavailability and players returning. In an even first half, both defences were in control whilst Kings Hill FC lost skipper Ollie Aston to injury, replaced by Charlie Hatton who impressed on his debut. After the break, Kings Hill become much more dominant, pressing Meridian back and creating more goalscoring opportunities. Macca forced a good save from the away goalkeeper and several balls flew across the box without the finishing tough being applied. The breakthrough came following good work down the right from George Sibley and his cross was met with a sweet left foot volley across the keeper by Cameron Croucher, scoring the winner on his full debut.
Further chances came to extend the lead but, despite some late pressure from the visitors which was dealt with solidly by the back 3 of Romzy, GH and Max Sutton, Kings Hill came away with a deserved 3 points.
An important win topping off a solid start to the season as the team head into two home games over the bank holiday weekend.
On the team’s performance, Patrick Lee noted:
“What a great reaction from the boys. It was important for us to focus on getting 3 points, as mentioned last week we were just disappointed with the scoreline & not creating more chances with possession we had!
We had plenty of chances against Meridian but just weren’t clinical enough, which then made the game potentially a bit harder or closer for us than it should of been.
It was great to have Kieron back in midfield following his suspension, he had a great pre season and was raring to come back. With a few bodies out as the start of the season has already taken some victims to injuries, we had to move the squad around a bit today, but everyone put a shift in.
It was a fantastic goal to win it by Cameron Croucher on his full debut & almost had another not long after!
Now its time for us to prepare for a busy and tough weekend over the bank holiday as we welcome both Minster and Bexley to Kings Hill with 2 games in 3 days.”
