Kings Hill produced a commanding away performance to make it back-to-back wins in the South East Counties Women’s Football League Premier Division, defeating Betteshanger Welfare 5–1 on Sunday.
The visitors started brightly and wasted no time stamping their authority on the match. Within minutes of kick-off, a perfectly timed through ball from striker Ziggy sent winger Megan racing through on goal. With great composure, Megan slotted past the Betteshanger keeper to give Kings Hill an early 1–0 lead.
Buoyed by the strong start, Kings Hill began to dictate possession, moving the ball with confidence and patience. Their dominance was soon rewarded when a defensive lapse from Betteshanger gifted Ziggy a clear sight of goal. The in-form striker rounded the keeper and calmly finished into an empty net to double the advantage.
Moments later, Kings Hill struck again. A well-constructed move from the back saw the ball worked through midfield to Heather, who slipped Ziggy in behind the defence. Her lobbed effort was initially saved, but Heather reacted quickest to bury the rebound, making it 3–0.
Despite Kings Hill’s control, a few sloppy moments in possession gave Betteshanger glimpses of goal, though the visitors’ defence stood firm and denied any clear-cut chances. At the other end, a lovely through ball found Frankie, whose left-footed volley was superbly saved—but once again, Ziggy was on hand to tuck home the rebound for her second and Kings Hill’s fourth of the afternoon.
After the break, Kings Hill continued to control proceedings, probing for more goals while Betteshanger worked hard to push forward and apply pressure. Their efforts were eventually rewarded following a contentious free-kick decision on the edge of the area. Kings Hill keeper Jess did well to save the initial strike, but the defence couldn’t clear the danger, allowing Betteshanger to bundle home a consolation goal.
Undeterred, Kings Hill reasserted their dominance and continued to create chances. Their persistence paid off when a corner from the left caused chaos in the box, and Heather pounced to score her second and Kings Hill’s fifth—though the Betteshanger keeper protested that the goal should not have stood.
In the end, it was a comprehensive and confident performance from Kings Hill, who controlled large spells of the game and showed quality across the pitch. The result secures back-to-back wins and underlines the team’s growing cohesion and attacking threat as they look to build further momentum in the coming weeks.
