Kings Hill FC 4 v 1 Aylesford FC
Our men’s first team produced a dominant display versus fellow newly promoted team Aylesford to claim a well deserved 4-1 victory. On a glorious summer’s evening at the Kings Hill Sports Park, in front of a bumper 250 crowd, it was Aylesford who started on the front foot forcing a good save from Kings Hill’s stand in keeper, Tom Slade, early in proceedings. However, in a clash of styles, as Kings Hill settled into their passing rhythm they soon took control and should have taken the lead after being awarded an early penalty. However, Aylesford’s goalkeeper Henry Lovering made a fine save low to his left from Macca. Kings Hill continued to apply pressure and were soon awarded another penalty which Lovering again saved, this time low to his right from Ollie Aston.
The half continued with Kings Hill remaining on top and Aston atoned for his earlier miss with a bullet header into the corner of the net following a pinpoint cross from George Sibley to give Kings Hill the lead. The Spitfires were rampant at this point but, despite Macca hitting the bar and further efforts from him and Ollie both drawing good saves from Lovering, they went into the break with only a one goal lead to show for their efforts.
Both teams came out for the second half with renewed energy. Kings Hill’s defensive line held firm against Aylesford’s strong aerial threat and gradually took control of possession again. Aston was a constant threat for the Aylesford defence and, after more good work from him, the ball fell to Macca in the box who made it 2-0 with a calm finish. This was soon followed by a 3rd when good work by new signing Richard Davies down Kings Hill’s left drew a further save from Lovering but he could only direct the ball into Aston’s path who duly headed home. Aylesford pulled a goal back with 20 minutes left to raise nerves amongst the Kings Hill support but, after Kings Hill hit the woodwork twice more, any doubts were soon put to bed as substitute Will Seage broke free to set Macca up for a quality finish into the top corner.
An excellent performance from the entire squad, capped with a cameo performance from experienced campaigner GH in an unfamiliar centre forward position, sent the majority of the large crowd home happy and gives a great platform as the team travel to South London for their first away match of the season v Stansfeld on Saturday.
Speaking about the team’s performance, Team Manager Patrick Lee said:
“What a fantastic performance really.
We really felt like we needed to add more tempo and speed to how we play after the game against Long Lane and think the boys did that and some!
We had a plan and idea as to how we wanted to attack the game to create chances and the boys executed that superbly from start to finish. We wanted to have more possession during the game, which we spoke about at half time as we needed to look at moments when it was on for us to attack quickly or keep moving it, but thats for another day.
To miss two penalties, hit the crossbar twice and their keeper pulling off numerous brilliant saves, a 4-1 win is a great result and a honest reflection of the game.
A massive well done to our defensive players also as they dealt with a large amount of arial balls throughout the game and managed it superbly.
And finally, it was amazing to see so many in attendance yesterday, especially so many people from within the club such as parents, coaches and players. Your support does not go unnoticed and we hope to see more of you throughout the season!
We move onto Saturday away to Stansfield in what we know will be hard game.”
