Kings Hill Show Spirit in Defeat at Minster
Minster 2 v 0 Kings Hill
Kings Hill fell to their 3rd consecutive defeat as they lost 2-0, with last season’s runners up Minster continuing their strong league form. With several enforced changes, Kings Hill gave debuts to midfielder Charley Epps and goalkeeper Jacob Hunt, who both impressed. Having been 4-0 up within twenty minutes in their previous home match, the hosts came out of the blocks quickly and forced a fine early save from Hunt. Despite this Kings Hill’s back four of George Ellis, George Hawkins, Eroms Amros and Cameron Croucher were well organised and solid, apart from one effort where Minster hit the post, limiting the home side’s opportunities to mainly headers from their quality wide delivery. George Sibley and Jason Mola were both lively in wide positions for Kings Hill but the visitors were unable to create any significant goalscoring opportunities and the teams went into the break level at 0-0.
The second half started with more pressure from Minster and a succession of corners which were well defended by Kings Hill, as well as a couple of headed chances where the hosts narrowly missed the target. Eventually the pressure told as Kings Hill let a ball bounce in the penalty area and Minster’s winger was able to hook a shot over Hunt’s head for the hosts to take the lead. Kings Hill continued to give everything to get back into the game with the introduction of Vinny Wade and Charlie Hatton adding some attacking options. However, the home side extended their lead in the last ten minutes when a free kick, which was awarded thirty yards out, was driven into the roof of the net. Kings Hill did not drop their heads and maintained their workrate at the previous high levels but were unable to find enough creativity to get back into the game, leaving them with the long drive back from Margate without any points to show for their efforts.
